The niddy noddy is a great tool for making skeins from yarn. To wrap, simply take the yarn over the left end of the top crossbar, down and under the right side of the lower crossbar, up and over the left end of the top crossbar, and then back down and under the right end of the lower crossbar. Sounds confusing, but one usually picks up the rhythm in just a few passes. Constructed of premium hard maple, and left unfinished. Assembly is a breeze and pieces friction fit together to make a niddy noddy capable of making 2, 1-1/2 or 1 yard skeins. Wound skeins slide easily from the smooth sloped maple top bars. The conical shape of the whorl puts most of the weight along the perimeter, helping the spindle spin longer and stay more stable. A notch in the whorl helps keep your spun yarn in place. Both the whorl and the shaft are custom crafted from hard maple, sanded until smooth, and finished with lacquer and danish oil. The spindle is 10′ long, rounded on both tips, has a 2.5′ whorl, and weighs 1.8 ounces.
